Thanks to Jon Stewart’s team for compiling a list of the best pizza places in NYC to mock Trump’s idiotic choice of venue to meet Palin. Regardless of political views, and any security risk that may have been at play, meeting at Famiglia in Times Square is just ridiculous. So, without further ado, here’s the list with my own comments
Lombardi’s: I am so damn spoiled to have this a mere 6 blocks from my house. It was founded in 1905 and was New York’s (and America’s) first pizzeria. I order delivery at least once a month from here and absolutely adore it every time. Their homemade sausage is quite good, but I’m a purist who loves a simple margarita pizza. I don’t order it every time my wife and I want a cheese delivery device so that we really enjoy it when we do.
Grimaldi’s: My #1 pizza of all time, hands down. I do love Lombardi’s, but Grimaldi’s sauce and use of basil is just perfect….every time. God I’m hungry now.
Totonnos: Thanks to this segment I plan on trying this place next week.
Arturo’s: How did I not know about this place?! I live a 10 minute walk from here and is definitely on my list now. Can’t wait.
Deninons: I’m not a huge fan of bread crumbs on my pizza, but if you like this you’d probably like Nona’s, which has an interesting mix of corn meal as part of their crust.
Joe’s: Delicious, this is a New York staple, and a delicious standard pizza at that.
Finally, not mentioned in Jon’s list, but my weekly Sunday night staple, and the most consistent A- pizza ever, Rosario’s in the Lower East Side. Now, I don’t mean A- as anything negative. I just mean it’s so incredibly consistent, exactly the same every time. I’ve ordered well over 20 times from here and I’ve never once had even one bad slice. Now, that being said, I’ve never had the best pizza of my life either, but it’s always A- good.
Honorable Mention: John’s Pizza: Thanks Ryan! Also quite good. :)
